I'm really glad I came out to San Francisco for college because it gave me the opportunity to get to know my cousin Janet. I haven't seen her in what feels like a decade since she moved away from Hawaii. My first impression of her was that she is a bright, vivacious person who is genuinely kind and humble. Even after 7 years, she has not changed one bit. We took a family road trip to LA when I first moved to San Francisco. At the young age of 15, she was beatifully organized and executed a fun-filled vacation to Disneyland and Universal Studios. This was quite a difficult task because it meant managing 2 sets of parents who jibber-jabber constantly in Chinese all day asking you every minute detail. (If you've ever travelled with Chinese parents, you'll understand the torture.) Of course, I never underestimated my cousin and the way she is able to take on difficult challenges. Like all the people in our family, she understands the meaning of working hard to attain your goals. With her bravery and strong will, she has already proven to me that she's got what it takes to win this battle. With the support of her family and friends, she has all the reinforcements she needs. Make us proud, Janet!
